CUNY The College of Staten Island

Staten Island, NY

The College of Staten Island is a public university in Staten Island, New York. It is one of the 11 four-year senior colleges within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. In the Performing and Creative Arts department, the Art Program offers a Bachelor of Art (BA) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with a Studio Art Concentration. The curriculum encourages students to objectively critique and articulate content and vision in the visual arts. Through ongoing studio discourse, Studio Art majors and minors build an awareness of the conceptual underpinnings of their visual art practice in relation to the contemporary world and to historical precedent. Students develop skills and establish proficiency in a range of media, providing the foundation to concentrate in one discipline: drawing, printmaking, painting, or sculpture.

The Printmaking area is equipped with a large Charles Brand press, an X-Vactor LED exposure unit and wash-out booth for screen-print, an acid room with ventilation, two vertical tanks for etching (small and large), a Universal Laser Systems VLS 6.60 Laser-engraver, a Creality CR-M4 3D printer, a ShopBot Desktop Max CNC milling machine and an Epson workforce DS-50000 scanner.

Faculty in Printmaking are Miguel A. Aragón, Bridget McGuire, and Dianne Hebbert.
