Robin Sherin
New York, NY

Statement
My work encompasses printmaking (etching, relief, silkscreen), drawing (an amalgam of cut paper and various drawing media) and artist books made from a single sheet of folded paper, displayed as sculptural objects. I begin with thumbnails in a notebook and develop final work by hand, digitally, or in combination. My objectives are to balance on the boundaries between representation and abstraction and to merge strong composition with monochromatic color and subtle texture. To achieve this, I crearte an invented, spare, unpeopled architecture that has no ingress or egress, sometimes obstructed or revealed by bars of varying widths and directions.
